Piano Resources I Actually Use

These are tools, sites, and resources I’ve personally used in my piano journey. No affiliate links, no sponsorships – just stuff that works.

Free Theory and Learning

MusicTheory.net – Best free theory resource. Lessons and exercises covering everything from basics to advanced. Where I learned most of my theory.

Pianote Blog – Good articles on technique and practice. Some content is paywalled but the blog is free.

Sheet Music

MuseScore – Huge library of user-uploaded arrangements. Quality varies but you can find beginner versions of almost anything. Free.

Musicnotes – Paid arrangements, professional quality. Usually $5-8 per song. Worth it for accurate, well-arranged versions.

IMSLP – Public domain classical scores. Everything out of copyright, completely free. Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, etc.

Tools

Moises – Slow down songs without changing pitch. Essential for learning by ear. Free tier has limits, paid version for heavy use.

Hooktheory – See chord progressions of popular songs. Great for understanding why songs work. Has free and paid tiers.

Any metronome app – Pro Metronome, Soundbrenner, or just Google “metronome.” Essential from day one.

Keyboard Brands (for shopping)

Yamaha Pianos – Solid at every price point. My first real keyboard was Yamaha.

Roland Pianos – Excellent key feel, especially in mid-range models.

Casio – Underrated. Their CDP and Privia lines punch above their price.

Communities

Reddit r/piano – Active community, good for questions and motivation. Mix of beginners and advanced players.
